Better Golf Course Management –

... use LandMapper to precisely map soil compaction, salinity, and moisture on your course and design the best management practice!

You are here: Home / Better Golf Course Management –

How can LandMapper be useful for golf courses?

  • LandMapper assists in efficient water use planning and implementation. The user can design a state-of-the-art  irrigation system, based on the properties of the soil expanse and layers.
  • LandMapper determines the level of soil salinity.
  • LandMapper allows the user to map the variability of soils in different sectors of the golf course.
  • The user can use LandMapper to monitor other soil properties such as changes in salinity, volumetric water content; near-surface water (groundwater influx), gravel lenses, and bulk density changes.

How does LandMapper help reduce water use?

The planet’s fresh water supply is limited. Since the population is increasing every year, the overall demand for water will rise correspondingly over time.  If there is a sudden drought, or water supply deficit, it is likely that the last sector which the government(s) think about is golf courses.

Golf courses are among the primary types of water-dependent industries that will be looked upon to develop high-quality water conservation practices, with a focus on increasing water-use efficiency.

Golf courses should be equipped with an irrigation system that takes into account soil variability and uses water efficiently. Soil variability is influenced by factors such as climate, water regime, pedosphere-bioactivity, solar radiation, wind speed, humidity, air temperature and anthropogenic modifications.

As a result, golf courses are generally not uniform, and soil properties may vary in different locations.

Landmapper determines the water content in the soil at different depths.

LandMapper detects stagnant water. The user will develop a useful map with an accurate description of the various soil properties throughout the field.

The device is portable and weighs only 250 grams and very compact, some models could even fit in a shirt pocket.

LandMapper maps soil terrain nearer to the surface and also measures soil properties at depth.

Using the generated map from data, the user can create an irrigation system that will take into account the variability of soil at his site. Thanks to this essential benefit, the money will be saved when irrigating golf courses.

What results will you get with LandMapper?

  • You will be able to constantly monitor the quality of the soil: the level of salinity, texture, moisture, and stone content. This feature enables the golf course superintendent to apply fertilizers on time.

  • You will create an efficient irrigation system in your golf courses, which will utilize only the necessary amount of water and avoid overuse. Irrigation that takes into account the variability of the soil is a valuable operational cost-benefit.

  • The user of LandMapper will be able to identify problems with the soil at different depths and detect depths to water restricting layers, deeper salts and depth to groundwater (up to 30 m). This will allow the superintendent to develop onsite solutions.

Key Benefits of LandMapper

  • Reduce irrigation volumes by area;
  • Save money on overall maintenance costs;
  • Save time and worry less;
  • Monitor conditions of site-specific soils;
  • Monitor changes in grass nutrient regimes;
  • Eliminate some complex, time-consuming lab tests;
  • Develop site-specific data maps of soil properties

Key Features of LandMapper
